The process of collecting and using consumer data needs to be regulated. Users need to be informed through the transparent disclosure of information about this process to make an informed decision. By examining current regulations, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and the upcoming California Consumer Privacy Act, this proposal calls on the Institute for Public Relations and its members to act swiftly to address consumer privacy issues in the U.S. as they relate to the public relations and advertising field.

Successful businesses are founded on purposeful missions, embody positive values shared by all stakeholders, and strive towards a long-term vision. Corporate social responsibility must be rooted in all three factors. In a world in which opinions on issues shape the perception of businesses, not doing so is detrimental. Businesses have to start adapting and understanding the value of conducting corporate social responsibility and advocacy in ethical, responsible ways.

PRAD 564 Business Skills for Strategic Communicators

Should a razor brand, built by and for women, feature women with body hair in their ads? Razor company Billie says yes. The Project Body Hair and Red, White, and You Do You campaigns are a reflection of the company's values and mission. Based on the Page Principles, the campaigns told the truth, reflected the views of the brand's stakeholders, and communicated a message beneficial to the brand at large. Yet, the company needs to work on proving it with action.
